Application Requirements

Applicants with non-Japanese citizenship must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Have completed 12 years of education in a foreign country.
  • Have completed ( or be scheduled to complete) 1 year or more schooling at a Japanese Language School authorized by The Association for the Promotion of Japanese Language Education.
  • Have passed the second or the first level Japanese Language Proficiency Test or be judged by our school to have the equivalent or better Japanese language proficiency.
  • Hold the residential status that allows the admission to our school or be capable of obtaining Student Status following admission under Japan's Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Law.

* Scholarship students are granted one third of the school fee waiver, not including the Admission Fee.

* Submission of the Application Form for Scholarship Student Admission in addition to the Documents listed at section 6 is necessary.
* “Basic Subjects Examination” is a written examination in such subjects as Japanese language, mathematics ( simple calculation ), science
( explanation of chemical terms, related to confectionery ) etc.

Application Procedure

Preferably, applicants are in person to submit the necessary documents for application listed below ( at section 6 ) to the Admission Office of Otemae College of Confectionery during the application periods listed in the table at section 7. In case the documents are sent by mail, please make sure it is by registered express mail in order to prevent any misdelivery or delay.

Necessary Documents for Application

  • Application Form ( in our prescribed form )
  • A photocopy of the Graduation Certificate of the last school attended in the home country.
  • A photocopy of the school grade record of the last school attended in the home country.
  • The attendance record and the school grade transcripts of the Japanese Language School.
  • A photocopy of the Certification of the registered information on the alien registration or of the entry visa.
  • A Letter of Guarantee ( A guarantor is to be, in principle, a Japanese or a foreigner, residing in Japan, who earns an independent living and is capable of fulfilling obligations as a guarantor.)
  • A photocopy of the Certificate of Japanese language proficiency ( only in case the applicant has passed the second or the first level Japanese Language Proficiency Test.)
  • A Return Envelope ( for the result notification / self-addressed and with a 360 yen stamp put on the prescribed envelope )
  • Curriculum Vitae ( in our prescribed form )
  • Application form for Scholarship Student Admission ( Scholarship Student Admission Applicants Only / in our prescribed form )
